Two locomotives that don’t get too much attention are the pair of Network Rail Class 37s that reside at the station. Affectionately known by enthusiasts as ‘Tractors’, these are kept on hand to help stricken stock and when the weather turns are on hand for snow clearing duties with our resident pair of snowploughs.
There is soon to be a special renaming of two East Midlands Trains Class 43 power cars. Details are to follow soon.
Now here is something special. 55001 St Paddy ran light engine through our station while on mainline testing, and looks fantastic in BR blue. We heard him long before we saw him! And to add to the whole experience, the driver really opened up and gave a spectacular display of clag.
Billingsley doesn’t just play host to steam locomotives for charter trains – the diesel enthusiast will also appreciate what we have in store later on this year for a Christmas Special – a Class 20 in BR green (running number TBA).
